Under the Silverado 1500's Hood
Most of the Silverado 1500 trims will come equipped with a standard 4.3-liter V6 engine that is linked to a six-speed automatic transmission and produces 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. Rear-wheel or four-wheel drive are both offered, and the maximum towing capacity will come in at 7,600 pounds. Additionally, the base configuration will provide a maximum payload of 1,980 pounds. The first of the optional engines is a 5.3-liter V8 that delivers 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque; it is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission or an optional eight-speed automatic transmission (depending on which trim you choose). Again, rear-wheel or four-wheel drive is available, and the towing rating maxes out at 11,000 pounds while the maximum payload comes in at 2,430 pounds when properly equipped. Finally, Chevy offers a fantastic 6.2-liter V8 on the LTZ and High Country trims. It is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission and offered with either two- or four-wheel drive. The V8 engine has, when properly equipped, a towing maximum of 11,100 pounds and a maximum payload of 2,160 pounds when it is properly equipped.
